Recently, the world witnessed Danish soccer star 29-year-old Christian Eriksen collapse on the field after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest. Thanks to the quick recognition of his condition by his teammates and the performance of effective CPR and use of an AED, he is expected to make a substantial recovery. This event reminds us that even individuals we see as being relatively young and physically fit may experience cardiopulmonary issues and effective CPR can save lives. On June 21, 2021, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a law requiring public high school students to take CPR and First Aid. This law goes into effect on July 1, 2021. First Response Training’s CPR/First Aid for Secondary Students is an excellent way to comply with this law in Florida and can even be used for all secondary students nationwide.

We know that there are challenges to secondary schools to implement CPR and First Aid into an already packed curriculum but we are here to help. Our CPR / First Aid for Secondary Students curriculum has been designed to be flexible and meet requirements as schools begin to incorporate CPR and First Aid into the middle and high school curriculums. The web-based elearning program can easily be integrated into lesson plans and provides a grade report for each student that can easily be integrated into grade books. The curriculum includes 13 quizzes (students must achieve a 100% to move on but can retake them as many times as needed) and a short final exam that is scored within the program creating no extra grading time for teachers. Students have unique log-ins and our system maintains the certification in an easy-to-find manner after completion of the course. Students can access these materials for life. As CPR and First Aid standards are updated, so are their materials. This way, students will always have the most up-to-date materials.
